On July 31, the fourth-generation Changan Eado officially rolled off the production line at Changan Automobile's Chongqing Liangjiang production base. The new car's exterior has been comprehensively upgraded, and the interior adopts an all-new color scheme. Currently, only two powertrains are offered: gasoline and plug-in hybrid, while HEV hybrid models will be launched later.
In terms of exterior, the new Changan Eado adopts an all-new design language. The front fascia features slimmer headlight clusters and a central light strip, and the brand logo can also be illuminated. The style of the new car's borderless grille has been adjusted, and the size of the air guide slots on both sides is larger than that of the current model, enhancing the sporty feel.
At the rear, the new car is equipped with a retractable electric rear spoiler, which increases the sporty effect while also optimizing the drag coefficient, and can provide greater downforce to the rear wheels at high speeds. The through-type taillights of the new Changan Eado use transparent-style lenses, and the bottom adopts a dual-exit exhaust layout, further strengthening the rear's sporty feel. The new car's length, width, and height are 4785/1840/1440 (1450) mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2765 mm, and the body length has increased by 15 mm compared with the current model.
In terms of interior, the new car's cabin adopts a "T"-shaped layout. The large-sized LCD screen enhances the sense of technology, and the central control screen uses a floating design, is larger than that of the current model, and supports functions such as Carlink and CarPlay. The addition of ambient lighting adds a fashionable touch.
In terms of power, the gasoline version of the new Changan Eado is equipped with a 1.5T New Blue Whale engine, with a maximum power of 141 kW and a peak torque of 310 N·m. The plug-in hybrid model has two power versions. In the system, the maximum power of the 1.5L engine is 72 kW in both, and the electric motor power is available in two versions, 140 kW and 158 kW. The former is paired with a nickel-cobalt-manganese ternary lithium battery, while the latter provides a lithium iron phosphate battery.
Dada commentary: The Changan Eado is a compact sedan under Changan Automobile, and the first-generation model was launched in March 2012. The second-generation Eado in 2019 was equipped with the Blue Whale NE1.4T high-pressure direct injection engine, which was hailed as "the strongest 1.4T on earth." The third-generation Eado was launched in March 2024, switched to the new-generation Blue Whale NE1.5T high-pressure direct injection engine, and came standard across the lineup with a 540° high-definition panoramic camera, further improving product strength. Up to now, the cumulative sales of the Changan Eado series have exceeded 1.8 million units, and it has topped the sales list of China's self-owned compact family sedans for 27 consecutive months. In 2023, it topped the sales list of Chinese-brand sedans. The new Changan Eado is the fourth-generation model. After the upgrade, its exterior has a stronger sense of technology and sportiness. The newly added electric lift rear spoiler at the rear is actually an optional item, and HEV hybrid power will be offered later, providing a wider range of power choices.
